    Compared them all, bought these

My son, a mechanic, had his tools stolen so I wanted to help him out. I researched all the popular brands and some lesser known ones - about 15 in all. I read all the reviews, watched the YouTube videos, compared the warranties, and looked at them in the stores. I created spreadsheet to include the cost of the missing sizes so I was making accurate cost comparisons. In the final analysis I chose the Do It Best Channellock socket & wrench set which is exclusive to Do It Best Hardware stores and a better quality than the Channellock sets found at other retailers. You'll see the difference right away as this socket has all six point sockets vs. 12 point for the more widely available, cheaper set. Six point sockets won't slip onto the bolt as easily as 12 point but they reduce stripping which is far more important. The wrenches have serrations in the jaws for a better bite and less slippage while the cheaper set has smooth jaws. Both the sockets and wrenches use the "wave" design to apply pressure toward the middle of the bolt rather than the points to reduce stripping. The ratchets are 72 tooth which require less of a swing arc for working in tighter spaces. The ratchet handles are a good size for slipping a cheater pipe over them for better leverage, yet they are comfortable to grasp and well-balanced. Sizes are embossed on the tools so they won't get rubbed off. The chrome appears to be high quality. There are colored bands on the tools to distinguish SAE sizes from metric. My son has worked with a lot of tools of different brands and he was excited to receive these as he agrees that whoever designed this set knows what it's like to work with tools all day. This set combines the best of all the other brands. I have had enough of my old tools either broken or disappear so I am going to retire them and buy a set of these for myself later this year.
